This year’s 16th Annual Oyster Festival takes place this coming Saturday, May 9th at Sharon Meadow in Golden Gate Park. Headlined by electronic duo Thievery Corporation, this year’s lineup takes a different direction than the indie-pop lineup of 2014. Also on the bill for this year are local DJs K Theory, plus the first ever set of Dylan Lewman of K Theory’s new solo project: Deelan Z. Some throwbacks are in order as well with performances by Warren G and Grandmaster Flash. Keeping with the local theme, The Schmidt will be performing a set early in the afternoon followed by GZRUS. If you’re into the electronic and hip hop scene, then this year’s lineup has been perfectly curated for you.

But — this is the oyster festival, so let’s get down to business. Oysters will be available from all over California, as well as from Baja California. There will also be plenty of oysters from the Atlantic Northeast as well as the Pacific Northwest. As per the norm in San Francisco, all food vendors will be focused on sustainable farming techniques. For those who aren’t into shucking and sucking, there will be plenty of non-oyster food as well, with a large variety of beer and wine as well.

This year’s festival has a goal of zero waste. All containers and food waste is entirely compostable. Please help do your part to make this goal a reality.

To get hyped, we’ve talked with Thievery Corporation, K Theory, and The Schmidt. Check out our interviews here.
